Boy Toy is the eighty seventh chapter of Bittersweet Candy Bowl. Paulo reflects upon his own sexuality. This is the first chapter in which it is implied that Paulo may be bisexual.

Synopsis

The comic starts off with Daisy making sure Paulo is still feeling ok, considering the car accident happened not that long ago. Abbey shows up, and to tease him, Paulo gives him a kiss on the forehead. Mike comments that "didn't seem like something you'd normally do," which gets Paulo all flustered.

Rachel scolds Paulo for being rude to Matt after he invites Paulo to go on a group vacation. Paulo spends the rest of the day pondering on some thoughts, like how affectionate David is. He bumps into Daisy and Abbey, and Daisy comments on how on edge Paulo seems. As a quick exit plan, Paulo announces he is going to the movies and does so.

Paulo makes some rude comments about a couple at the movie theatre kissing, and a movie poster displaying a gay couple. He flirts with a girl he bumps into to make himself feel better. He then bumps into Amaya and almost flirts with her, but states "you're PRACTICALLY a boy, so that wouldn't count!"

On his way back home, Paulo bumps into Mike, who scolds him for forgetting their plans to study together. On the way back home, Paulo notices how pretty Mike's eyes are, and gets embarrassed.

At Mike's place, Paulo notices how distressed Mike is. Mike tells Paulo that Sandy has stopped responding to Mike's texts. Paulo reassures Mike, and lets him know he's not doing anything wrong, and that she needs to be more responsive with Mike.

Paulo asks, in all seriousness if Mike has ever "liked a guy." Paulo also admits that he's been a little unsure of his own sexuality lately. Mike assures Paulo that he doesn't think he's gay, but you don't control who you love.

Paulo feels embarrassed about almost putting a hand on Mike.

The next day at school, Paulo has a talk with Rachel and apologizes for the way he acted the previous day. He had a tells her about his talk with Mike, and how he's been thinking "about some things I hadn't thought of before." Rachel affectionately says that she think's Paulo's problem is that he loves just a little too much.

• This is the first chapter in which Mike talks about Sandy not responding to his texts.
